Terms of Service
This is the agreement between you and Speekl. It covers what the service does, what your plan includes, how billing and cancellation work, and what each of us is responsible for.

1.The agreement
These terms are an agreement between you and Speekl, LLC, a limited liability company registered in Delaware, United States, at 1111B South Governors Ave, STE 7418, Dover, DE 19904, USA. "Speekl", "we" and "us" mean that company; "you" means the person using the service.
By creating an account or using Speekl you accept these terms. If you do not accept them, do not use the service.
How we handle your data is set out in the Privacy Policy, which is part of this agreement.
2.Who can use Speekl
You must be at least 13 years old. If you are under 18, you may use Speekl only with the involvement of a parent or guardian who accepts these terms on your behalf.
One account belongs to one person. You are responsible for what happens under your account, and for keeping access to the email address that signs into it — anyone who can read that inbox can sign in as you.
3.What the service is
Speekl is an AI language tutor. You talk to it, it replies, and it corrects you. It builds a learning plan, tracks vocabulary and reports on your progress.
The tutor is software, not a teacher. Its replies, corrections and level assessments are generated by AI models and can be wrong, out of date, or confidently mistaken about a language point. Speekl is not certified instruction, it does not lead to a qualification, and nothing it tells you should be relied on where being wrong would matter — a visa interview, a legal document, a medical conversation.
We develop the service continuously. Features may be added, changed or withdrawn. If we withdraw something material from a plan you are paying for, we will tell you before it happens.
4.Plans and practice allowances
Every plan includes an allowance of practice minutes per month. One pool covers every mode — lessons, free practice, role-play, writing and voice conversation all draw on the same minutes.
| Plan | Price | Practice minutes | Daily limit |
|---|---|---|---|
| Explorer | Free | 60 per month | 12 minutes |
| Voyager | $99 / month, or $950 / year | 300 per month | 60 minutes |
| Immersion | $299 / month, or $2,870 / year | 1,000 per month | 200 minutes |

The daily limit is a fifth of the monthly allowance and applies every day regardless of how much of the month is left. It exists to stop a runaway or automated session draining a month's allowance in an afternoon.
- Minutes reset at the start of each billing period, on the day you are charged. On the free plan they reset with the calendar month.
- Unused minutes do not carry over, and allowances have no cash value.
- A single session is billed for at most 90 minutes.
- Time is metered while a session is open. If a session is left running unattended we close it and bill only the time up to the last sign of activity.
- We check your allowance when a session starts, never in the middle of one — you will not be cut off mid-sentence, even if a session runs past the remaining balance.
Plans also limit how many learning languages and custom tutors you can have at once. Deleting a custom tutor frees its slot. The current numbers for every plan are on the pricing page.
Allowances are fair-use ceilings sized well above what nearly everyone does — they are there to bound cost and abuse, not to ration normal practice.
5.Free trials
- Voyager and Immersion each come with a 7-day free trial.
- You can trial each plan once. Having trialled a plan before, you go straight to a paid subscription if you take it again.
- We tell you before a trial ends.
- At the end of the trial the first charge is taken. If it fails, your account drops to the free Explorer plan — the subscription does not continue unpaid.
6.Billing
Payments are handled by Stripe. You enter your card details on Stripe's pages; Speekl never sees or stores them.
- Subscriptions renew automatically each month or year until you cancel. Prices are in US dollars and exclude any tax that applies where you are.
- If a payment fails your subscription is marked past due. We will try again, and if it keeps failing your account drops to Explorer.
- Upgrading takes effect immediately, and you are charged the prorated difference for the rest of the period.
- Downgrading takes effect at the end of the period you have already paid for. There is no partial refund for the unused part.
- We may change prices. An existing subscription keeps its price until the end of its current period, and we will give you notice before a change applies to it.
7.Cancelling
You can cancel at any time from your billing settings. Cancelling stops the next renewal — you keep full access until the end of the period you have already paid for, and then move to the free Explorer plan.
Your account and your learning history are not deleted when a subscription ends. To have them deleted, see Your rights.
8.Refunds
Payments are non-refundable except where the law requires otherwise, or where we agree to a refund. The free plan and the 7-day trials exist so you can judge the product before paying for it.
If something went wrong — you were charged twice, or a fault stopped you using what you paid for — write to hello@speekl.com and we will sort it out.
If you are a consumer in the EU or UK, your statutory cancellation rights apply. By starting to use a paid plan immediately you may lose the 14-day withdrawal right for the part already used.
9.Acceptable use
Do not:
- Share, resell or automate access to your account, or use Speekl to build a competing product.
- Use the service to generate content that is illegal, abusive, hateful, sexual involving minors, or that harasses a real person.
- Try to extract the underlying models or prompts, circumvent plan limits or metering, or probe the service for vulnerabilities without our written permission.
- Scrape the service, or send it traffic that is not a person practising a language.
- Upload anything you do not have the right to, or use another person's identity.
We may suspend or close an account that breaks these rules. Where it is proportionate we will warn you first; where the breach is serious or ongoing we may act immediately.
10.Your content
What you say and write in Speekl stays yours. So do the custom tutors you create.
To run the service we need permission to use that content for exactly that: transcribing your speech, generating replies and corrections, storing your transcripts and progress, and passing what is needed to the providers listed in the Privacy Policy. That permission is limited to operating and improving Speekl for you, and it ends when the content is deleted.
We do not use your conversations to train AI models.
The tutor's replies are generated for you and you may use them freely. Because they come from models that generate rather than retrieve, identical output can be produced for someone else, and we make no claim of exclusivity over it.
11.Our intellectual property
Speekl — the software, the interface, the name and the brand — belongs to us. These terms give you a personal, non-transferable right to use the service, and nothing more.
12.Suspension and termination
You can stop using Speekl whenever you like. We can suspend or close an account that breaches these terms, that we are legally required to close, or where continuing to serve it would create a real risk to the service or other users.
If we close a paid account for a reason other than your breach, we refund the unused part of the period.
13.Disclaimers
The service is provided "as is". We do not warrant that it will be uninterrupted, that the tutor will be accurate, or that using it will produce any particular result — language learning depends mostly on what you do.
To the fullest extent the law allows, we exclude implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose and non-infringement. Some jurisdictions do not allow that, in which case this paragraph applies to you only as far as it is permitted.
14.Limitation of liability
To the fullest extent the law allows, we are not liable for indirect, incidental, special or consequential loss, for lost profits, or for lost data beyond our obligation to keep reasonable backups.
Our total liability arising out of the service is limited to the greater of the amount you paid us in the 12 months before the claim, or US$100.
Nothing here excludes liability that cannot lawfully be excluded — including for fraud, or for death or personal injury caused by negligence. If you are a consumer, your statutory rights are unaffected.
15.Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Delaware, United States, without regard to its conflict-of-laws rules, and the courts of Delaware, United States have jurisdiction over any dispute.
If you are a consumer resident elsewhere, this does not deprive you of the protection of the mandatory laws of the country you live in, or of the right to bring proceedings there.
16.Changes to these terms
We may update these terms. The date at the top changes when we do. For a material change we will give notice by email or in the app before it takes effect, and continuing to use Speekl afterwards means you accept the new version. If you do not, cancel — and if you had paid for a period you can no longer use, we will refund the unused part.
