Keyword CURE

/ʊə/as in “tour”

How to make it

Starts: tongue fairly high and back in the mouth, lips rounded. Glides to: tongue in the middle and central in the mouth, lips relaxed.
  1. Start with the "oo" of "book".
  2. Glide to the relaxed "uh" of "about".
  3. Do not add an r.

Common mistake

Adding an r. Many British speakers now say these words with the "or" of "more" — "sure" as "shaw" — which is also correct.
